We developed oblique-illumination pump-probe microscopy to visualize hyperbolic plasmon polaritons in MoOCl2, a natural van der Waals material. Using this approach, we further demonstrated on-demand directional excitation of the polaritons with circularly polarized light.

We designed a THz chiral photonic-crystal cavity with broken time-reversal symmetry, and developed a quantum theory predicting a chiral-cavity-induced gap in graphene.

We designed and fabricated a THz 3D photonic-crystal cavity and integrated a 2D electron gas within it. Using this platform, we demonstrated multimode ultrastrong coupling and investigated how the cavity's spatial field profile governs intermode coupling.

Using a unique THz time-domain magnetospectroscopy technique, we observed the coexistence of colossal THz magnetoresistance and magnetocapacitance in the perovskite manganite La0.875Sr0.125MnO3.

We revealed long-lived free-electron radiation mediated by bulk plasmons when a fast-moving electron crosses the interface between free space and a plasmonic medium. With low-loss bulk plasmons, the radiation can persist beyond the conventional formation time in free space.
